The club members have all arrived safely to virginia beach.  As I write this, the skaters are out for their 3rd training session of the day.  They were up by 6:00am and on the beach running by 6:30am. We had a wonderful breakfast (courtesy of the awesome moms Svetlana, Brigitte, Theresa, Sarah and Amber). Then the skaters went back out for their second session.  After some running and exercising in the sun, they ate a big lunch and took a nap!  It was so quiet in the house - not a peep from anyone. Some of the moms took a walk on the beach to gather sea shells (shh, don't tell the skaters we were having fun while they were working so hard).  It's dinner and a movie and probably some fun in the pool later this evening.  More later....

Day 2

06/04/2012 07:21

stiff & sore.....Yet no one complained, and all were still smiling.  By 6:45am they were out the door for the first training session of the day.  Cleaning, scrubbing, laundry, blogging, cooking, braiding, - that's the life of the skating moms while at the beach.  Everything seems to be going smoothly so far although it is only the morning of day 2.

Day 2 - lunch

06/04/2012 12:08

The moms are waiting for the skaters to return from their second workout of the day.  Lunch is ready and consists of chicken cesar salad, broccoli/cheese soup and fruit. The weather is warmer today and the sand is hot.  The skaters are running barefoot in the sand - maybe the heat from the sand will make them run faster??  I am hoping to go to the last practice of the day to take pictures to a workout.  So, stay tuned for some action shots.

Day 3

06/05/2012 14:21

Yesterday we were able to watch the last training session of the day.  Wow, what an experience to see them in action.  We were trying not to be noticed and were standing back from the group and happened to meet a nice fellow who was planning his wedding for Saturday on the beach - however, the kids all thought we were trying to flirt with him. Someone mentioned that instead of blending in with the crowd, we looked like paparazzi.  We went back to the morning practice today to get even more action shots.  The weather was cold, windy, cloudy and rainy. They were all in long pants and jackets but didn't complain.  However....the sun will come out tomorrow (we hope).

Day 4 (written on Day 5)

06/07/2012 09:47

Yesterday was a busy day.  We had a major kitchen adventure with Valentyn and his skaters coming to dinner.  We had lots of wonderful food - which you can see in the pictures.  The dinner turned out well and everyone had a great time. Dinner wasn't over until after 8pm.  At that time we handed out the club t-shirts and took group pictures which are also posted.  As for the work-outs, you can see the pictures of the kids working hard with the bands.  It was cool and windy most of the day.  The kids were tired, so it was off to bed after dinner.  That is when the laundry fairy (Svetlana) is still working hard to get clothes ready for the next day.

Day 5

06/07/2012 14:25

Today the weather is great.  Lots of sun and not too much wind.  The kids had their first two work outs of the day and then got to play a little on the beach before lunch. We saw a few surfers and lots of dolphins. We met a man fishing who caught a stingray - we posted pictures of his catch.  One more work out and then a little rest and relaxation.

Friday & Saturday (at Busch Gardens)

Friday was the last workout with Valentyn's group.  After two hard workouts, the kids got to go shopping at a few stores down the road. Afterwards, the entire group went for ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery.  What a treat!  Then on Saturday we all went to Busch Gardens.  There was something for everyone - big rides, small rides, shops, shows, and food.  This was my first time there and I must say that I was impressed with this theme park. Everyone had a great time.  Many kids (and adults) went on the big roller coasters.  The lines weren't too long which was a plus for a HOT day. On Sunday morning Theresa, Hannah, Eva and I had to leave Virginia Beach to come back to Omaha. VB  was a wonderful experience and we can't wait to go back again next year.
